DKC MarkIV : piano key 52 not working - how to adjust/repair :?

2012-10-19 by Julien Roche

Hello,

The piano key Nr 52 of my Disklavier M4 Mark IV is not working. It is slightly moving but not touching the cord and do not make music.

What can I do ?

I am myself electronic engineer, but I have much younger collegues more capable than me to do a professional repair job. It is something to adjust or something to change ? I am located in Albania/Europe and no Yahama service here, as the only DKV in the country...

I made already the automatic tuning or all keys using the program of the remote control, and nothing changed.

My piano is 3 years old, working very well except this problem really disturbing with this miss of key working....

Thanks for your help / suggestions

Julien

This sounds like a job for a regular old piano technician. If the hammer isn't touching the string, something mechanical is wrong, not electrical. Who tunes your piano? Maybe they are qualified?

the piano was just tuned perfectly some days ago (is done every 3 months). When you play piano the key is working perfectly well

I would suspect a problem with the key/hammer sensors (most common problem) which may just be down to a bit of dirt on the lenses/shutters. There may also be some dirt in the key solenoid which stops it moving properly. You could pmail me for further advice.

i have the same problem.

The automatic player doesnt make a sound even though the keys move etc but when that is off the piano plays manually.

I had that problem a couple of times. Turning it off THEN unplugging it completely for a minute, then plugging it back in (ie a full cold boot) fixed that.
