Elton John RemoteLive Broadcast!!

Elton John RemoteLive Broadcast!!

2013-01-16 by Bill Brandom

Elton John! The Moment We've All Been Waiting For!

You probably have heard about Yamaha's RemoteLive technology available to Disklavier Mark IV and E3 customers. Yamaha has been beta-testing this technology in the US for the last two years. Many of you have served as beta-testers during this time.

I am thrilled to announce that Elton John will perform via RemoteLive™ on Friday, January 25, 2013 from Disney's California Adventure Park's Hyperion Theater.

Yamaha will be presenting a multi-artist blockbuster concert as part of their 125th Anniversary Celebration during the NAMM Show. Sir Elton John has agreed to allow us to stream his special 5-Song Set (that also includes a full orchestra) to our RemoteLive beta-testers in the US.

Since we'll be joining a concert already in progress, we estimate that Elton will take the stage at approximately 9:30 PM (PST). While I realize that this might not be a convenient time for you (unless you live on the west coast of the US), please understand that there is no agreement to enable us to offer this performance as a rebroadcast or as on-demand content, so this is ONE LIVE EVENT that you will not want to miss!

I think of this event like Woodstock, just without the rain…

If you are a Mark IV or E3 owner living in the US and you would like to try the RemoteLive experience, go to http://4wrd.it/remotelive. At the bottom right corner of the page, click on "Sign Up for RemoteLive" and register for it. This incredible event is free, so you really can't beat the price…

After signing up, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to download a set-up manual and the "dongle data" that is necessary for you to receive the broadcast.

After getting set up, go to http://4wrd.it/remotelive to check the test videos (to be sure everything is configured properly) and then enjoy the on-demand videos available.

Should you have any problems, please contact me as soon as possible. Because of the expected high number of requests for assistance, I ask you to contact me by email at bill.brandom03@.... Make sure to include a brief description of the problem and your phone number in the email so I can call you back.

Please plan to get prepared ASAP. It will be very difficult for me to provide assistance after January 20th, because I will be deeply involved in preparing for the NAMM Show and for this important event.

Despite the hour, I hope you'll invite your family and friends to "tune in" to this historical performance! As always, the broadcast will be streamed to http://4wrd.it/remotelive .

Hi Bill,

It's Neal, one of your DS4 customers. You Have given me a lot of special attention and treatment over the years, which I appreciate. You even got me into the Nam show.

So is this Eltin John broadcast going to be able to be on my big screen TV and piano ? If so, do I need to hook up an HDTV to my laptop? Thanks again

Hey Bill,

It's a shame that Yamaha does not let Australians watch this?

Do you guys have any video+midi that people can buy? I am happy to pay a good price for them?

I went to register but discovered that a DKC-850 won't work.

Can someone tell me why DKC-850 won't currently work and if it will work in the future with RemoteLive?

Re: [disklavier] Elton John RemoteLive Broadcast!!

2013-01-19 by Bill Brandom

Hi Phil,

I am really sorry that customers in countries other than the U.S. cannot participate in this Elton John RemoteLive event. It is an issue of copyrights. Yamaha Corporation of America simply does not have the rights to broadcast this event to customers beyond the U.S. borders.

Yamaha Japan has used the U.S. as a RemoteLive testing ground for the last two years. Many beta broadcasts have occurred in the U.S. during this time. Because of the success of RemoteLive here, it appears to me that Yamaha will be expanding this technology across the world.

As a consultant for Yamaha, I have no idea how this will be rolled out to other countries, but I think it is just a matter a time.

I wish all Yamaha Disklavier customers had the opportunity to experience this upcoming event.

To your question of video+MIDI discs. Yamaha Corporation of America has made several for use in our dealer network, for demo purposes only. Yamaha has not made these discs available to our customers in the U.S.

Bill

I have received several other questions about the DKC-850 and RemoteLive. Our Disklavier engineers continue working on expanding the market for RemoteLive. At this time, however, there are synchronization issues with the DKC-850, connected to older Disklavier systems. Yamaha simply does not want to release video/audio/MIDI synchronized technology that isn't synchronized.

Hopefully in the future, additional Disklavier customers will be able to enjoy RemoteLive Disklavier technology.

Hello Bill!

This is a great project: Bravo to Yamaha to make this happen.

For the rest of us (who cannot enjoy) would it be possible to have a small video of (part or parts) of the event: like in someones living room with the piano being ready to receive and then the broadcast starting etc...That would be very nice and maybe also usefull to "show" what ist really like...and for the copyright questions I guess if the extracts are less than 30 sec it ok.

Thanks Alain,

This broadcast/concert is really a big project for Yamaha. What makes it tough is the fact that it is in the middle of NAMM.

I hope some video will be captured that shows the RemoteLive experience in a customer's home. If we get some, i will let you know.

Bill,

I plan to video tape the entire event with my Sony 3ccd camera.
I will import the captured video into my Mac editing suite and prep some if not all the footage for the site.

Thanks Alain,

This broadcast/concert is really a big project for Yamaha. What makes it tough is the fact that it is in the middle of NAMM.

I hope some video will be captured that shows the RemoteLive experience in a customer's home. If we get some, i will let you know.

I have been so busy I have not even tested my setup yet.
Hopefully I can successfully run threw it tomorrow, it does not seem like rocket science.

Hi Jon,

No it is not rocket science but sometimes things don't work out like they should.

Be sure to use the new dongle files that you were advised of last week.

If you have any problems give me a call. 714-313-1708.

I have been so busy I have not even tested my setup yet.
Hopefully I can successfully run threw it tomorrow, it does not seem like rocket science.

Re: [disklavier] Elton John RemoteLive Broadcast!!

2013-01-23 by Peter Giles

Hi Philip (and group)

We have just received approval on the following news release which I hope will be of great interest to you. Hope you can join us online for this amazing concert event!

Regards,

Peter

Yamaha 125th Anniversary Dealer Concert

Starring Elton John to Be Streamed Live

—Historic Event Featuring Top Artists Can Now Be Experienced on Computers and

Mobile Devices, and at Select Yamaha DisklavierTV Locations Around the World—

Anaheim, California—Yamaha’s 125th Anniversary Dealer Concert featuring Elton John performing with a 60-piece orchestra will be streamed live over the Internet on January 25, 2013, beginning at 8:00 pm Pacific Standard Time, U.S. Elton John will start his performance at approximately 10:25 pm Pacific Standard Time, U.S. The concert will take place at Disneyland’s Hyperion Theater in Anaheim, California and the stream will be available for viewing at http://eltonjohn125.usa.yamaha.com and www.eltonjohn.com.

Joining the “Rocket Man” onstage will be Amy Grant, Chaka Khan, Dave Grusin, Earth, Wind & Fire, David Foster, Dave Koz, James Newton Howard, LEOGUN, Landon Pigg, Lucy Schwartz, Michael McDonald, Sarah McLachlan, Sinbad and Toto. Legendary bass player Nathan East will serve as music director.

In addition to the live stream of the entire, three-hour concert to computers and mobile devices, Yamaha will showcase its groundbreaking DisklavierTV™, powered by RemoteLive™ technology. Elton John, the marquee performer of our generation, will play five songs on a Yamaha Disklavier reproducing piano onstage with the orchestra, which will be streamed live over the Internet simultaneously to remote Disklavier pianos in Japan, Korea, Australia, Russia, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Singapore and the United States. His actual piano keystrokes will be faithfully played, note for note, in real time (via MIDI data) on each of the remote instruments just as if he were there, while the entire orchestra will be seen and heard on adjacent monitors in perfect sync with the remote piano performances.

“We are going to make history with our DisklavierTV live stream of Elton John’s performance. Elton will be playing Yamaha pianos live around the world from one stage at Disney California Adventure’s Hyperion Theater and will forever change the way we interact with artists and their music,” said Chris Gero, vice president of Yamaha Entertainment Group of America, which is producing the event. “Only Yamaha has the technology and the artist relationships to pull off a concert of this magnitude and everyone involved is excited to be a part of this singular event.”

Elton John! The Moment We've All Been Waiting For!
You probably have heard about Yamaha's RemoteLive technology available to Disklavier Mark IV and E3 customers. Yamaha has been beta-testing this technology in the US for the last two years. Many of you have served as beta-testers during this time.
I am thrilled to announce that Elton John will perform viaRemoteLive™ on Friday, January 25, 2013 from Disney's California Adventure Park's Hyperion Theater.
If you are a Mark IV or E3 owner living in the US and you would like to try the RemoteLive experience, go tohttp://4wrd.it/remotelive. At the bottom right corner of the page, click on "Sign Up for RemoteLive" and register for it. This incredible event is free, so you really can't beat theprice…
Because of the expected high number of requests for assistance, I ask you to contact me by email atbill.brandom03@gmail.com.
Bill Brandom

Can you confirm this is available to DKIV's in the UK. Previous advice has
been categoric, with apologies, that it was not available outside the USA.

Thanks

Anaheim, California-Yamaha's 125th Anniversary Dealer Concert featuring
Elton John performing with a 60-piece orchestra will be streamed live over
the Internet on January 25, 2013, beginning at 8:00 pm Pacific Standard
Time, U.S. Elton John will start his performance at approximately 10:25 pm
Pacific Standard Time, U.S. The concert will take place at Disneyland's
Hyperion Theater in Anaheim, California and the stream will be available for
viewing at http://eltonjohn125.usa.yamaha.com and www.eltonjohn.com.

Joining the "Rocket Man" onstage will be Amy Grant, Chaka Khan,
Dave Grusin, Earth, Wind & Fire, David Foster, Dave Koz, James Newton
Howard, LEOGUN, Landon Pigg, Lucy Schwartz, Michael McDonald, Sarah
McLachlan, Sinbad and Toto. Legendary bass player Nathan East will serve as
music director.

In addition to the live stream of the entire, three-hour concert to
computers and mobile devices, Yamaha will showcase its groundbreaking
DisklavierTVT, powered by RemoteLiveT technology. Elton John, the marquee
performer of our generation, will play five songs on a Yamaha Disklavier
reproducing piano onstage with the orchestra, which will be streamed live
over the Internet simultaneously to remote Disklavier pianos in Japan,
Korea, Australia, Russia, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Singapore
and the United States. His actual piano keystrokes will be faithfully
played, note for note, in real time (via MIDI data) on each of the remote
instruments just as if he were there, while the entire orchestra will be
seen and heard on adjacent monitors in perfect sync with the remote piano
performances.

"We are going to make history with our DisklavierTV live stream of Elton
John's performance. Elton will be playing Yamaha pianos live around the
world from one stage at Disney California Adventure's Hyperion Theater and
will forever change the way we interact with artists and their music," said
Chris Gero, vice president of Yamaha Entertainment Group of America, which
is producing the event. "Only Yamaha has the technology and the artist
relationships to pull off a concert of this magnitude and everyone involved
is excited to be a part of this singular event."

Elton John! The Moment We've All Been Waiting For!

You probably have heard about Yamaha's RemoteLive technology available to
Disklavier Mark IV and E3 customers. Yamaha has been beta-testing this
technology in the US for the last two years. Many of you have served as
beta-testers during this time.

I am thrilled to announce that Elton John will perform viaRemoteLiveT on
Friday, January 25, 2013 from Disney's California Adventure Park's Hyperion
Theater.

Yamaha will be presenting a multi-artist blockbuster concert as part of
their 125th Anniversary Celebration during the NAMM Show. Sir Elton John has
agreed to allow us to stream his special 5-Song Set (that also includes a
full orchestra) to our RemoteLive beta-testers in the US.

Since we'll be joining a concert already in progress, we estimate that Elton
will take the stage at approximately 9:30 PM (PST). While I realize that
this might not be a convenient time for you (unless you live on the west
coast of the US), please understand that there is no agreement to enable us
to offer this performance as a rebroadcast or as on-demand content, so this
is ONE LIVE EVENT that you will not want to miss!

I think of this event like Woodstock, just without the rain.

If you are a Mark IV or E3 owner living in the US and you would like to try
the RemoteLive experience, go to <http://4wrd.it/remotelive>
http://4wrd.it/remotelive. At the bottom right corner of the page, click on
"Sign Up for RemoteLive" and register for it. This incredible event is free,
so you really can't beat theprice.

After signing up, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to
download a set-up manual and the "dongle data" that is necessary for you to
receive the broadcast.

After getting set up, go to <http://4wrd.it/remotelive>
http://4wrd.it/remotelive to check the test videos (to be sure everything is
configured properly) and then enjoy the on-demand videos available.

Should you have any problems, please contact me as soon as possible. Because
of the expected high number of requests for assistance, I ask you to contact
me by email at <mailto:bill.brandom03@...> bill.brandom03@....
Make sure to include a brief description of the problem and your phone
number in the email so I can call you back.

Please plan to get prepared ASAP. It will be very difficult for me to
provide assistance after January 20th, because I will be deeply involved in
preparing for the NAMM Show and for this important event.

Despite the hour, I hope you'll invite your family and friends to "tune in"
to this historical performance! As always, the broadcast will be streamed to
<http://4wrd.it/remotelive> http://4wrd.it/remotelive .

Hey Peter and Bill,

On the 'DisklavierTV' website it now says:

....."streamed live over the Internet and simultaneously to remote Disklaviers in many countries around the world, such as United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Australia"...

So they decided to stream it properly 'around the world' rather than just the USA now?

Cool..?

Re: [disklavier] Elton John RemoteLive Broadcast!!

2013-01-24 by Bill Brandom

Hi Phil,

Up to this time, RemoteLive has only been available to U.S. dealers and U.S. customers. This concert/broadcast opportunity came for Yamaha Corporation of America. Because Elton was willing to participate in this Yamaha concert and do a RemoteLive broadcast for our U.S. customers and dealers, Yamaha Japan felt it would be a good opportunity for Yamaha subsidiaries to experience RemoteLive. So, at many of the Yamaha headquarters for the various countries, they will be receiving RemoteLive for the first time.

I imagine that as a result of this broadcast, many other countries will become involved with RemoteLive and then be making this technology available to their customers. One of the challenges of RemoteLive is the Yamaha support that is required. In the U.S., we have been learning how to support RemoteLive for more than two years. And sometimes, our support wasn't the best. Having worked with Yamaha for so many years, I understand how important it is to Yamaha not to just offer a product, but to provide the support needed for that product. RemoteLive needs this kind of support.

Phil, I really wish you and others were able to participate in the RemoteLive experience. I hope that in the near future, you will be given that opportunity. I do have one bit of good news. The entire Yamaha concert will be broadcast Friday night, beginning at 8:00pm, California time. You will be able to see this 3 hour concert at http://www.eltonjohn.com .

Presumably the advantage of having his piano playing streamed to your Disklavier is that you can choose not to listen to his singing?

> You probably have heard about Yamaha's RemoteLive technology available to Disklavier Mark IV and E3 customers. Yamaha has been beta-testing this technology in the US for the last two years. Many of you have served as beta-testers during this time.
> I am thrilled to announce that Elton John will perform viaRemoteLive™ on Friday, January 25, 2013 from Disney's California Adventure Park's Hyperion Theater.

> Please plan to get prepared ASAP. It will be very difficult for me to provide assistance after January 20th, because I will be deeply involved in preparing for the NAMM Show and for this important event.

Will it be possible to see and hear the concert online if you don't have a Mark IV or E3? If we just to to the link, will we be able to get the video and audio? Is the show being broadcast through some other outlet?
