Thanks Doug and Yves. (sounds like a early American artist's name) I have all three chips on order just in case. The 4006 got really warm on that first power-up. That is what made me inspect them closer. I'll replace them all. If this is indeed the fix then I feel pretty lucky. I haven't actually made a kit like this (albiet pretty simple) since the 1980's Heathkit amps and PAIA P4700J build. I've just been doing small breadboard mods and stuff. I feel like a beginner again. New Weller solder station and all. Fun return to an old passtime hobby.
