first, verify that the MD is actually sending midi.
you should see light activity on your midi interface or
notes on in a program like midi monitor.  if you don't, then
the MD's not sending anything.  assuming you have a device
defined in audiomidi setup, do the following:

go to the global menu -> slot (x) -> midi -> base channel.

this should be set to something other than "---" - i use
"1-4".

after you've set that, try again.
