there's no need to be fairly sure when you can be absolutely sure.
download midi monitor from snoize.com and verify that there
is or isn't midi coming in on the port you've assigned to
the MD in AMS.

you have created a device in AMS, right?  have you enabled
channels 1-4 {or whatever you specified as a the base
channel in the MD}, checked sends/receives clock?

it sounds like you have the MD set to output its clock,
hence the light activity on your interface.  make sure you
have the MD defined in AMS, use midi monitor, and let us
know what happens.  i use my MD with DP 4.5.2 with no
problems at all.
