> Hows this sound? A synth built around the sid chip.. with a fullsize >keyboard.. and a dedicated knob or slider for most of the available hrm .. well, i've got a full size keyboard here. it's got velocity etc.. it's just a standard midi controller (kinda low end too). It's got pitch bend and modulation and a nifty data entry slider.. So you plug this into the sidstation and there you go! :) Be creative, get a midi keys like this and whack a c64 badge on it! >parameters... It would be like any of the "analog modeling" synths out there >today. Give it a cool C-64 look and it would be a hit. Too bad the chips >are in short order. i think the sidstation looks much cooler than a c64.. the c64 is a clunky (but loveable surely) looking 80s box.. Sidstation is absolutely beautiful swedish design! As for "analog modelling" the mos6851 isn't really that. It's a digital tone generator routed through a low-fi analogue filter and enevelope generator of some sort.. Very interesting to read about its development [check it out : http://stud1.tuwien.ac.at/~e9426444/yannes.html ] Yannes built it with synth technology in mind.. >I don't think programming the sidstation is bad at all, >and i dont have any problem with it, but imagine if it was like how i >described.. I think it's great .. attach your PC sequencer to the SID and take hold of MIDI .. >with a sequencer.. Or try out technotoys seq303 .. there's your sequencer.. go a workstation? .. there's your keys and your sequencer (plus cheese GM to boot).. >and some on board effects.. on board effects suck.. check out every synthbox .. delay, chorus, reverb! get some guitar pedals .. >damn quit complaining! READ THE MANUAL! use your head! ;) The sidstation is everything we wanted and more! andrew
