MnM and Evolver - sequencing

2005-05-22 by microkorg666

Hi all. have a MnM, a MD and an Evolver. I've read numerous posts on
the archive but havent found exactly what I was looking for.

My problem is the following: I'd like to use the MnM to sequence the
Evolver, but I cant do it the way I want. I used to use a RM1x to
trigger notes, and my sequences on the Evolver on NSr mode (I think),
so when a note was triggered the Evolver would play a sequence for
the length of the note, when the note was muted it would stop playing
and when another note was played the sequence would start again.

My problem with the MnM is that note lengths are really weird
implemented, and if I use a 127 length note, the Evolver sequence
wont stop playing if I mute it. I can use a trigger off on the MnM
(on the last step of the midi sequencer), but then I would have to
mute the track in between that last step and the 1st step (when
Evolver is retriggered), because trigger off notes arent send on mute
mode (logic).

I've also tried using the Evolver in N1r and NS1 modes, but the MnM
sends a Start-Stop message at the beginning of the midi sequence, so
the Evolver doesnt start playing until the second time the MnM midi
seuqence is repeated.

Yeah, I know its weird, lol.

I may be doing something wrong, I think it would be easily done with
the MD, but I want to do it on the MnM so I can have my melodies on
one side and my beats on the other.

The solution I've found so far is to have the Evolver always playing
in the background and mute/unmute it from my mixer, but I'm sure
theres a better way.

In any case, if someone knows how to do it and could give me a brief
description on his settings it would be really cool. Maybe its
something on the globa settins of the MnM, dunno. I dont want to
carry around my RM1x just to trigger the Evolver (-:

Thanks a lot for reading all that.
