The Mono uses the same DA:s (24-bit Crystal) and OP-amps (Burr&Brown)
as the MD! Also they both use the same ESP dual DSP platform. 

The differences are rather inside with the algorithms used. As the
Mono is designed as a synthesizer, we spent more processing power on
the filters and the SRR for example. That's why you only have 6 tracks
on the Mono and 16 on the MD. The synthesis can take more DSP power on
the Mono compared to the MD. 

However, all FX processing in the Mono is done in stereo in order for
the tracks to be able to be used as effects (reverb etc), so all the
track effects are doubled internally (making 12 in totals). Also the
sound generating machines have the possibility to generate the sound
in stereo, but I don't think we used it any time. Could have been an
interesting idea for the SWAVE-SAW for example to add the surrounding
saveforms a little panned to the side. But I think we'd better add a
stereo control in that case...

But to answer the question: the audio subsystem is the same, but the
DSP processing is different. That's probably why you hear the difference!
