hello!!!
ive just got a machinedrum (sps-1)a few days go without the 
sampling option.
I would recommend you to get the one with the sampling option.
because machinedrum is a very special instrument.the way u tweak 
the sounds is very detailed.i am sure you can do really wierd 
stuff with the sampling machines inside the machinedrum.
Iam thinking of upgrading mine as soon as i can afford it.
Elektron is such a great company.If i had the money i would get 
all their modules right now without thinking.
u have mention kontakt and battery, my opinion is that machinedrum
has got its own signature sound and i dont think there is a software.
to match its synthesis capabilities. 
and even if it does one day it woundnt be half as fun.
