Well, you already found that the PSU is giving you some noise... apparently the SS is intolerant of all but a select few PSUs. It has to do with the voltage, not the brand. I got one of the new ones, its listed as Input:100V - 240V, 47Hz-63Hz/200mA Output:6V=/800mA It has no name on it anywhere. Says "Made in Germany" Kinda cheapo. But, to test just how noisy your Sid really is, make a new patch. Switch all OSCs to sine wave and press a note. See how noisy it is then, and after that, turn on the filter. Select Lowpass, full resonance and full cutoff. These tests should give you an idea of the general noisefloor before things get complicated with programming through LFOs, wavetables, PWM, etc etc. -----Original Message----- From: rogers@... <rogers@...> To: elektron-users@yahoogroups.com <elektron-users@yahoogroups.com> Date: Monday, July 02, 2001 9:04 PM Subject: [elektron] just how noisy is noisy? >I just got a used sidstation and I'm wondering whether the sometimes >extreme levels of noise are "normal" or whether this unit might be >defective.
