A few differences.

64 steps sequencer in mk2, 32 in mk1

More Rom slots and 4 ram machines instead of 2 (and 2,5MB sample memory, 
as opposed to 2MB)

DC power, meaning, at least in theory, that battery power is easier to 
achieve. However, I think the power comsumption is rather high, so 
AA-batteries is probably out of the question.

Balanced outputs and, I think, different D/A converters. The sound in 
the MK2 unit is slightly more rounded, and the bass slightly more 
defined to my ears, however, that is my feeling when I got the mk2, 
haven't really A/B compared them. Still sounds decidedly MD though, so 
no night/day difference.
