Say you have two snare hits, on steps 1 and 3. Using parameters locks you set the first snare to have a pitch of 0, and the second to have a pitch of 127. If you don't use slide, the first one triggers with a pitch of 0, and the second with a pitch of 127. You don't hear anything in between. If you use slide, it slides between the values. So on step 2, you get the sound of the first snare being pitchshifted up to 127 for the second snare hit. I don't know if I'm explaining it very well. Your best bet is to sit down and program something with lots of parameter locks (start with just one track, so you can easily hear the difference.) Listen to it with slide off. Then turn on slide for one or two steps. Gradually increase the steps you have slide turned on for. Each time try to notice the difference when you have slide on for a step. Hope that helps. c. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Find a job, post your resume. http://careers.yahoo.com
