maybe try an old trumpet case too.
I know a used trumpet case fits my Virus A tabletop perfectly.  and for around $30 U.S. used.  
Check with whoever sells used orchestra instruments for school bands and orchestras.  
Old beat up cases can be cheap but sturdy.

I made my own cases for both the sidstation and MD.  Home Depot sells 
metal briefcase style toolboxes for around $20.  They are pretty sturdy, 
and match the silver look of the sidstation.  A MD will fit in one 
easily, and I just got some nice foam to pad it out.  I highly recommend 
everyone just take a saturday afternoon to wander around Home Depot.  
That place has everything.
