Re: knobs

2002-01-31 by sjokoladegutt

Yeah, noticed the same thing a couple of months ago on my cousins
ser.no. 150-something MD. Much, much nicer knobs.... Nope, don't
think it's a DIY thing... Probably something the Elektron team has to
do for you, as it involves changing the whole pot. I too think these
newer knobs were much more comfortable.

Btw, getting tired of all those small fiddly things about the MD that
dont't work properly.... the LFO sync (worked on OS 0.96, but not
anymore).... the clicks and bi-noises when using parameter locks
(reverb, volume, filter and volume combined - stinks!), the noise
when LFO-modulating the volume and panning, etc etc.....

Syncing the MD to a MIDI sequencer is a joke when using the onboard
delay, which, because of the tape echo effect, never really syncs to
the main tempo, and sounds detuned when using tonal sounds. Shame the
MD is such a master on tonal sounds, when there is no way of tuning
the sounds correctly... Thanks, Shifty, for at least making it
easier! :)

Oh well, maybe I'm wanting too much. There must be a limit to the
MD's powers somewhere, although I've only had the "out of lock
memory!" message once.
It would be interesting to know how much you guys use the lock
function. After doing a bit of counting, I found out I was normally
using around 40 locks pr pattern, with a max of around 80-90. I
personally think this is one of the most essential functions of the
MD.

Regards,
Nils
