Re: ? about M.D.'s sequencer.

Well that's cool that you want to get in to making music and do it
with hardware only. I used to do it that way also. But I eventually
wanted to get away from my only option as being loop base trax. I'm
mean you can take a drum machine now these days and use what they
call song mode to link everything to gether but I always thought that
to be to much of a pain. so I got cubase software set up on a
laptop. Here I have the choice of doing loop based trax and turn
them into more linear type songs.
Also I like the fact that I can use my hardware (sps-1), midi
controller and my computer with additinal non expensive plugins
(samplers, fx,etc.) to make songs. But that's just my opinion. I
feel I can stil have the hands on take on things ,plus have more of a
composed type structure if or when I choose while playing out live or
in the studio just recording.

You'll want to get a midi conroller for your nord lead if your not
planning on buying the keyboard version. YOu are able to send out
midi messages from the machine drum and trigger sounds from the nord
if you want. Plus you can send sounds from the Nord lead to the MD
and use trigger functions that are available.
For syncing together you could sync straight into the nord.
Personally I myself wouldd use the machine drum for what it's for a
machine drum + the many sounds it can make, alone, hook the nord lead
up to a midikeyboard controller, and play the nord lead from the midi
controller. Now if your midi controller(i.e. xp 80, or something)
doesn't have a sequencer onboard for you to program your nord sounds
than you are gonna have to buy a sequencer. That's where If I were
you I would get cubase vst/32.
I use cubase as master and sync my drummachine as slave. Beautiful
set up. With that configuration you can also start and stop the sps-
1 if you choose just to play it alone.

Hope that helps a little.
