Elektron Musical Instruments

Am I confused or is it impossible to assign slides to individual parameters. It seems to me that when I assign a slide it applies to all parameters that have locks on the assigned steps.  We've discussed slides a bit on the list before, but I still find their function a little esoteric, and the manual's description of what's going on leaves a little to be desired.
   I think it would be a waste of potential if you can't assign parameter specific slides.
