You could try something a friend turned me on to, which I had never thought of for some
reason: I was used to using one midimachine per synth I was sequencing: while we were both
punching up patterns, he configured his md with multiple midimachines, all transmitting on
the same channel, and then set separate notes for each.  This way you can enter real-time
record and play eight or more notes into the sequence, just like a piano.  Not sure if
this is what you were getting at, but it's certainly a powerful method that I had
overlooked.  (cheers David)

To gab: yeah, the midimachines are powerful, especially the ability to send out LFOs to
modulate any midi CC values, and the ability to set those values for each individual step.
