LFOs are always synchronized to tempo. The rates are in multiples of 1/128th note. Notes are entered using the track trigger buttons. Notes play at a default pitch, velocity, gate-time as set by the overall MidiMachines parameter settings. If you are using parameter locks you can adjust the pitch on a step-by-step basis, as well as the gate-time. You have the input method correctly figured. Real-time recording is restricted to adjusting the MD's panel controls while recording. You can not for example use an external midi controller, unless you use the trick previously discussed. If your looking for a step sequencer capable of driving external MIDI synths and samplers then the MD is one of the few choices that has it right with regard to tweaking while the sequence is playing. If you have been frustrated by the way the MC-series grooveboxes do this, or worse the RM1x, or even the Emu XX-7 family you will find the MD a breath of fresh air. Only more esoteric (and expensive) things can work as intuitively and interactively. drk www.delora.com/music www.mp3.com/zdrk drk.iuma.com
