Pro-tools runs on Mac os 9.

Os X is an other world, completely.
It's not mature enough for professional audio production (lack of 
applications and plug-ins), but it's the most advanced os currently 
available; Logic 5 or Cubase SX are enough for every project studio, 
and run fine on Os X.
