Sounddiver experiences + corrupted bank + bug

1999-10-24 by Joeri Vankeirsbilck

Hi,

I just spent an evening using Sounddiver and I'm impressed with this
program! It works very well and it's a great utility. Great to save all
the settings of all your midi equipment and save it to disk. This thing
saves me hours when recalling a mix!

Anyway, using Sounddiver I was thinking of creating a library for the
SidStation. I tried to transmit the entire preset bank to the SidStation
and it really doesn't seem to work without errors. When sending the
entire bank, only the first couple of patches sound OK and the rest
sounds corrupted. The name is correct, but the sound doesn't play
correctly or sounds totally transformed. After checking all possible
solutions... I finally tried to transmit the patches of that bank one by
one... conclusion: even then the patches were corrupted! That means the
bank is corrupted!

When I downloaded the single patches and sent that to the SidStation,
there was no problem at all. The file that contains an entire bank
doesn't work though. Could anyone please send me a file with the entire
bank in it... and please check that it works. The easiest way to check:
if the latest patch works (the snaredrum), the the bank is OK. It might
be Netscape Communicator that corrupted the file while downloading... I
don't know. Anyone please send me the file with the entire bank (in one
midi or SysEx file).

By the way, I also had another problem when my SidStation locked up
tonight... Very strange, I was only switching patches in Logic and
suddenly the SIDStation's display didn't react anymore. I could hear
that the patches were switching as I was setting them in Logic, but the
knobs/buttons/display of the SidStation didn't do anything anymore...
very strange. First problem in a very long time. I switched it off and
on again, and everything was back to normal.

Ciao,
Joeri
