I think the MPC would be a far better choice. It's a bit quirky at time, but if you manage to be friend with it it can be a great base for your studio. Providing sequencing as well as a good base for sampling. In a few days I hope to get a SID-story up from our live-concert at Mekka2000 which featured just a MPC2000 (with sampled SidStation-sounds) and two SidStations. //Daniel On Mon, 3 Jul 2000 apbarthle@... wrote: > this is a little bit off the subject, but you guys seem to be the > most > knowledgeable ppl i know, so ill ask you. i own a SidStation, and > what i would like to do is sample grooves from it (like the Tracer > preset) and loop them externally as part of a performance. so of > course i need a sequencer and a sampler. my computer doesn't > seem particularly efficient for live performance or portability, so i > might like a hardware sequencer. in that case i may go the route > of the Yamaha SU700 for portability and price, but the Akai MPC > models have a better sequencer and i think better sampling > facilities. i would like to sample notes as well as patterns, too. > do the MPCs do that well, if at all? if anyone has time and any > ideas or opinions, tell me, so i can get more use out of my sid. > thank you very much for your help. > > ps: by the way, i like music somewhere along the lines of drum > and bass, jungle, and even hip hop among other things. > > thanks, > andrew barthle > apbarthle@... > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Free Worldwide Calling with Firetalk! > Click Here: > http://click.egroups.com/1/5481/13/_/598228/_/962593383/ > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > __ __///Daniel Hansson | SidStation - MOS6581 Synthesis \XX/ daniel@... | www.sidstation.com
