thinking out loud...maybe an external PIC device: one button.  When you
press it, it sends this sequence at 31250 baud:
1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 1 0 0 2 0 0 1 0 0 1 0 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 
(80 24 7f plus start/stop bits = note on msg)
