Q.
How do I reactivate my eGroups account?
A.
If your eGroups account is set to Bouncing, your account
will be deactivated and you will not
receive any group email. However, we will periodically send
test messages to check your
email account. If these messages are not returned with an
error, we assume your email account
is now fixed and reactivate your eGroups account. You can
also manually reactivate your
account:
1.Visit your My Groups page
2.Look for a bounce alert near the top of the page.
3.Click the alert link to reactivate your account.
Q.
Why does the My Groups page say my account is "bouncing"?
A.
If group messages sent to your email address are returned
to eGroups as undeliverable
("bouncing"), your eGroups account may be temporarily
disabled. Messages can be returned for
several reasons:
Your mailbox may be full - try deleting messages from
your Inbox.
Your ISP may have a backlog of email to process -
contact your ISP.
Your ISP may be blocking email from eGroups - contact
your ISP.
Q.
What does "bouncing" mean?
A.
If your email account ("jane_doe@...") refuses to
accept email from other accounts, then
your account is said to "bounce" email. This usually means
that if someone sends you an email,
their message is returned to them with an error from your
Internet service provider (ISP). If
eGroups gets such an error back from your account after
sending you a message, we consider
your account to be "bouncing".
