Elektron Musical Instruments

For those of you using an MD with logic, cubase or other sequencer 
what's the best way to use it?  I'm new to the MD world and I'm 
debating how to set it up.  I can't decide if I should use the MD 
step sequencer and then use logic for example to trigger patterns, or 
write patterns in logic (matrix editor) to trigger MD tracks and 
tweak the machines respectively.  Guess I'm looking for an update as 
to working styles/preferences here. TIA
