Re: [elektron] SFX-60 Vs. SFX-6

2004-04-19 by Damon Menne

Hey Andy,

I bought an SFX-6 in June/July last year, when the first 100 were
offered. I recently sold the unit to purchase an SFX-60.

I *really* liked the keys on the SFX-6. Actually, in a perfect world,
I'd have kept the SFX-6 without hesitation... Perfect world being one
where the SFX-6 had aftertouch. This is the only reason I sold the
SFX-6, no aftertouch. I realize that the Monomachine itself doesn't
know what aftertouch is, but I only want one keyboard synth in my
studio if I can help it, for space considerations, and this keyboard
needs to be versatile in controlling anything else in the studio...
Many of my other synths support aftertouch, and I like to play
expressively, so... it had to go.

If aftertouch is not important to you, and you could use another
keyboard, the SFX-6 is just fine.

As for replacing the joystick, I see midi joysticks on ebay often for
beans. Also, it's not a nightmare to build your own midi joystick
either (which is what I did, took about 2 hours and cost maybe $25 in
parts).
