Elektron Musical Instruments

I know that this is probably a lame question, but I can't figure out how to 
get the MnM to start via a MIDI message from Cubase.  I want to synchronize the 
start time of a pattern with other MIDI material.  
What message do I send? What Channel? What Global parameters need to be set?  
This seems to be addressed in the manual, but I can't make sense of it, and 
so far none of my attempts have worked.
