Any typical US music stores that carry the line to try them out first? They 
seem a bit pricy for efx, but then again i feel rather silly for saying that 
while i'm eyeing a QMF and watching my bank account! :)

The best effects I've used on the Sid are a very slow phaser and/or an
envelope follower - most excellent. The ones I used in particular are the
Lovetone Doppelganger and Meatball. The Meatball will make anything sound
good. Unfortunately they are kind of expensive... some Lovetone effects
units cost more than a Sid itself!

But they're worth it.
