As far as I know the taxes on cars and trucks/suvs are the same. Although you can get a tax deduction if you buy an alternative energy vehicle (hybrid or full electric.) And now back on topic, I'm 100% sure Freak came out before the MnM was released. Warp lists the release date as August 2003 and the Elektron announcement for the MnM beta program was sent out in Sept. 2003. c.
