MNM pattern paste problem (os1.04)

2004-10-14 by starpawz612

hello all,

i know i've posted something _similar_ to this before, and for a
while i didn't use my monomachine. now i'm back at it quite
seriously, and am having a few difficulties with what seems like a
bug.

my work flow is to build a pattern up w/ a 32 step scale, then go to
a 64 step scale when i want to add a longer theme. the problem is,
whenever i go to 64 steps from 32, ALL of my note data (on the
internal and midi sequencers) is deleted!!! "---" for every note
value! all the triggers are still there, as well as my locks. just no
notes. i have tried doing the scale operation while the sequencer is
running and stopped. before i start working on a pattern i clear it
out, so i'm sure there isn't any data outside of the 32 steps i'm
editing. any ideas on what i'm doing wrong??? :(

knowing that this happens, the last time i built a 32 step pattern i
copied the pattern and then changed the scale. of course, my notes
were deleted. then, i pasted my 32 step pattern into the 64 step
pattern ... the behavior is strange, the first time it seemed like it
pasted 32 steps worth into a 64 step pattern. the next time the 32
step setting over wrote the 64 step setting and it played the 32 step
pattern fine. i have no idea what i did differently between the two
times (maybe sequencer running/stopped). what is the expected
behavior for this operation?

i've been over the manual a few times, and tried searching the groups
messages for solutions, excuse me if this has been addressed and i'm
missing something obvious!

i love my monomachine and have it triggering an emu pro-cussion
module w/ it's midi tracks right now, super fun! if i could figure
this scale shit out i'd be so set, so thanks VERY much in advance ;)
