Cases and multiple instruments

2005-01-22 by endlessnessisticman

I'm thinking of getting an ata case for my stuff. I can get a 4214w
ata case. I'll be flying with it. I was wondering if I could put
different things in one of these. Is there a certain ammount of space
one should have between instruments? Are there spaces in these cases
to protect the different instruments from each other? Is there a
better place to ask these questions? I figured out I could fit my
machinedrum an indigo 2 and my mixer in one case.

Any case tips would be helpful.

Hi !

these are the most durable cases I came around,
better than SKB and not so heavy like common flight cases, and they are
waterproof.

this one might make it for you (sorry, german page but check picture):

You cut the foam inside the casesexactly to the size of your
instruments. You need some shock protection between the
instruments, because the airport staff doesnt care whats inside.
And if you write "fragile" on it, theyll even throw it harder!

Ciao

Thanks for the reply. I know about pelican cases. That not as easy
to find here in Korea. I also don't know if I can get a deal on the
pelicans as I can with the skb.

What do you suggest putting in to separate the instruments? Maybe
some taped up rags or something? Definitely something thicker than
the foam I assume. I'll keep it in mind.

I remember once I bought my ms2000r from Japan and flew it over to
Korea. They put a fragile tag on it. But then again the workers
here are much better.

The problem is that luggage handlers speak a different language to you
and me.

Us: Fragile = Damagable, braks easy, expensive gear.

Them: Fragile = Throw around, can survive 10m drops, ALWAYS stack
first at bottom of pile....
