Sid tune - The Wretch - Velocity - 210bpm DNB or something

Sid tune - The Wretch - Velocity - 210bpm DNB or something

2005-02-01 by Michael

In keeping with the tune postings!

The Wretch - Velocity (alpha 1)
http://www.thewretch.com/audio/TheWretch_Velocity_A1.mp3

Second day out with a sidstation (extra thanks to Jen for letting me
take custody of it!)

All synth sounds are the Sid, heavy use of a Sherman Filterbank and
several Ohm Force
plugins. Drums are Machinedrum and a couple of breaks in Phatmatic
Pro. In the bridge
the Nord G2 doubles the melody line (the metallic "bell" sound)

Enjoy!

Wow! This is very high energy stuff, not my daily style, but I like
it a lot!

Ronald.

Thanks! One of the more high-energy tracks I've done recently... just
set the tempo in logic to 210 and went to town!

What is the typical bpm for DNB?

Holy shit! This is wicked--very, very impressive. What sort of
machines did you use for the drums on the Machinedrum? I'm about to
look up and see what the hell a Sherman Filterbank is.

Again...tight.

Thanks man!

I'm trying to remember off hand what machines I used - I believe I
doubled up the kick from the TRX and E12 kit, the snare from the E12,
and the hats from the EFM kit, all with tweaking and paramater locks.
The main hats and snare hit that comes through loudest is more the
resampled break than the MD though.

glad you liked!

Oh, and the sherman is an insane dual filter - check out
http://www.sherman.be/

I'm using the 1st issue filterbank. It's really an awesome
soundshaping tool overall - I can't honestly think of a time I've ever
used it to do anything too "filtery" - mostly odd envelope following
and AM + LFO modulation. It seems to love the rawness of the sid!

Re: [elektron] Elektron Soft Carry Case. worth it?

2005-02-04 by Scott Kellogg

I like mine a lot. It fits the gear perfectly, looks cool, and has a
nice carrying strap. You could probably find or make something more
protective for less money, but you'd sacrifice a certain X factor that
the bag has. I take my SFX-60 around town to various bookshops, cafes,
and what not, and the bag is pretty stealthy. It's not like I'm lugging
around a modded aluminum briefcase.

i don't think so. you could buy a practicaly bomb-proof
pelican case for that kind of money.

Hi!

Always nice to drop by and say hello once in a while! :)

Yes, if you prefer a normal hardcase you should probably get something
like a Pelican case (or clones). The MD/Mono tabletop bag is more for
carrying yur unit on the subway to the gig, a normal bag that's
specially adapted in size and pockets to the unit and peripherals.

Many people use it also for other purposes like bringing around their
laptop and some magazines. We wouldn't recommend people to check it in
for a long-haul flight (that's what hard cases are for).

As for the price, this one is hand-sewn in Sweden, and the asking
price (that include shipping) actually have almost no margin. This
might be one of the few clothing that does not come straight from
China or Bangladesh. :)

We did it mainly to provide a special style of causal carrying bag
with nice design, getting away from the normal 12" record bag form
factor. There is alot of work to administer the production so it
probably won't be available forever.

With the right expectations you should be happy with it!

Worth to note is that we changed the design from the customers of the
first batch, increasing the insulation around making it a bit more
protective and sturdy now.

then consider my earlier grumpiness tempered; i do have
faith in the elektrons getting it right.

I think it is. But I use mine mainly to carry things to and from
work. I don't think it is really worth protecting well but it is
great for carrying other things. Mine gets alot of use.
