are people here in yahoo not up for the forum? it's a bit stupid to
have an elektron-diaspora rather than have all messages within one site...

The elektron users forum seems much better. I just check back here
everyday still. You also should notice that elektron still has the
yahoo group on its support page. Maybe you can get an announcement on
the Home page of this group. Like a moving notice. Maybe I should
just write, "Go to elektron-users.com" for all my messages?

That's how Scott and I think about it and there is certainly no 'spam'
organized by us.
But I hope you don't mind when we announce it when we're having
contests and stuff...

Personally, I like http://www.elektron-users.com better than the yahoo group. And it's
continually improving. I do like the fact that you create your our directories in the Files and
Photos section of the yahoo forum, but I have the way yahoo's web interface does text
wrapping on posts, and how itputs ads EVERYWHERE (especially in the middle of a post,
messing up the text). I also don't like how it doesn't allow medium to long sized urls in
posts. This stuff has annoyed me for years.

Both forums currently have problems with keeping you logged-in after you quit your
browser. However, unlike the yahoo group, the elektron-users forum has no problem
keeping you logged in while your browser is active.

Also, the elektron-users forum allows your to style your text, define hyperlinks, add
emoticons, etc.

Since there are still a lot of people on the yahoo board, I'll keep checking it, but the
elektron-users forum is definitely my board of choice.

why don't you configure yahoo so that you just receive every post in
your mailbox?

I use a Mac and have a folder named "Elektron" within Mail, every post
from this yahoo group goes there and is only text, no advertising.

That's why the yahoo group is going to stay, if you use it this way
it's faster than the forum (the latter needs a big clean-up IMHO).

Could you please be specific about improvements we could make to the
forum?

Yes, but I'll post them on the forum, tomorrow (I'll try to make a
list).

I must admit, I like the concept of the forums, much
easier to follow a thread, however, I do agree with
the passiveness of email. Given that an amazing amount
of work has already been done to the forums, a
possible improvement would be to add RSS feeds to it.
That way, users who wish, could receive virtually
instantaneous notification of new, threads and other
changes via their web browser. Not saying that this is
an end all solution to the problems raised, but it is
something that might be worth implementing.

In other news, a new sidstation is working its way
towards my studio, w00t!

Thank you for your feedback. In fact, the forum already supports RSS.
There is an orange RSS icon at the bottom right corner of each forum,
which will allow you to subscribe.

It does some pretty advanced stuff. Nice software, fun to use.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
