Elektron Musical Instruments

Hi all. I have a MD and was thinking in getting a sidstation, but I 
read on harmony central the sid has latency. Is this true? I ask 
because I plan on using it live, and the latency would be a turn off.

I have searched everywhere but cant find any info about it. Could 
someone help me? Just a yes or no, and if its really bothering.

from what I hear it does have a latency issue, but I

there is indeed latency...
although, if you work with it, the latency can add some nice subtle
swing to an otherwise rigid track.

the fart-like bass sound is the sidstation, and its latency works well
for this track. kinda a big file, though...

Is it that bad of an issue if you were to use midi
through the sequencer of lets say like the MnM?

I checked that song, but couldnt really tell about the latency.

I would like to know how long in seconds (miliseconds)is the latency 
aprox. Is it more than 0.5 seconds? Does it make precission midi 
sequencing impossible for live sets?

Im not really sure if I should get it, this latency thing could be 
frustrating.

it can be a problem when you need very very exact timings. I think
it´s way below 0.5 seconds, but actually i didn´t checked it. I can
live with this in most cases .. same as the ghostsounds .. it´s the
character of the sidstation

Yah,  4 days after the announcement they were gone.  I was bummed but I 
managed to find one second hand a couple days later.

Actually, they've been sold out for some time.

On 10/3/05 Elektron announced they had acquired 100 more chips and 
began to offer brand new SS's.  All 100 were sold and gone in 4 
days.  I think that's quite a testament to the popularity of the SS.

Either way though, it definately shows how great the

Well that just says WHEN the last Sid was shipped.  Since I missed 
the first 25 promo I quickly placed an order on 3/10 when notified 
through the friend feature.  My unit didn't ship until 3/14, to the 
US (arrived at my house on 3/16).  Could it be my Sid was the last 
unit shipped out?

Yeah, mine was the same way, 2 business days after
ordering it, I had it. 

Maybe Elektron would like to satisfy our curiosity and
let us know how fast the last ones sold.
