Is the Mono needed if I already have Sid and Machine?

well, the MnM is more than just the sounds. it's the working method
that it inspires
and the internal sequencer (as you know, since you have an MD) and what
it can
do. but yes there are some sounds that I've not heard elsewhere; or
wouldn't have
found because soft synths are far less fun to tweak than the MnM is.

also, the MnM offers a few things that softsynths don't. like the
multi-trig
mode, the crazy arpeggiator, the assignable joystick, etc.

Worth it for the FM synths.

The FM synths are amazing in the Monomachine... and
the way that all of the machines interact without
getting muddy or fighting for space is perfect.

I'll put it to you this way, I have the keyboard version and it completely
changed how I write music.

How are the FM synths any different from FM synthesis currently available??

Sound quality. Everything sounds great straight out
of the machine... also, the way you can tweak every
parameter with a knob on this machine is perfect. FM
synthesis and knobs...you can't go wrong.
