Machinedrum SPS-1 / SPS-1UW OS1.29b beta OS release, bug fixed

2005-06-15 by daniel_elektron

...just a note here that we posted a beta version of the updated
Machinedrum OS based on a list compiled by users of the
elektron-users.com site! This OS should run on both SPS-1 and SPS-1UW.

We would love to get feedback before going public and official with
it. The feedback would be best to be handled in a thread at
elektron-users.com and compiled in the end as a bug report list (if
any are found) which we can take care of when everyone have agreed
that it indeed is bugs.

We have updated the Machinedrum OS according to the bug report that
was compiled by the elektron-user.com users. We would like to post it
on elektron-users.com for the people who took part in compiling the
bug list to try it out to see if we got it all right!

In this one we have avoided adding any features, because we want to
stay on a stable release before continuing adding stuff.

Please not that this is a beta release, and strange things could
happen, however we hope that it will be working well due to the
avoidance of new features and extensive testing.

We would like to have feedback on possible bugs in this release before
the 27th of June if possible.

Please test all aspects as extensively as possible! Use
elektron-users.com for bug discussion and if needed, please compile a
new list to the 27th of June.

Thanks everyone for helping!

!! Please note that due to the introduction of UW support, you cannot
downgrade to a previous version after you have installed 1.29b !!

Does this mean something new is planned? :)

First, please please please try this one out as well as you can, and
also as soon as possible so we get a chance to get corrections into
the 1.30 release. We want to have a stable base for eventual future
adventures.

As you know we never comment on future upgrades, but we enjoy updating
our products at least as long as people buy them so we can afford it.

A stable release to revert to in case future features screws things up
is pretty important, right? Now, please try it extensively and check
if we 1) got all bug fixes right 2) if you can find any other strange
things so we can get a stable 1.30 base release. Stability is even
more important than features, right?

Just realized that my post might have sound too stubid :). Especially
when Elektrons have just released a new OS. With the UW-release the MD
already has _more than enough_, so I'm with the stability here. I
believe everyone else is too, so releasing a 1.29b to lists is good
thing for the MD and communication between users and elektrons.

I'm sure I speak for everyone saying it's appreciated that Elektron
reads and posts sometimes on the lists. I hope it stays this way.

Toni.
