LED Lights up yellow but not ReD

LED Lights up yellow but not ReD

2005-07-21 by montonnjira

I just received my Monomachine today. When I turned it on, I saw that one of the LED's (#11)
on the front panel wouldn't light when the step sequencer ran past it., but when holding
down the bank key, and clicking on #11, the yellow LED would light up above it? Would this
be a faulty LED that has its red bit burned out, but not its yellow or green?
What would be the best way to remedy this? Please don't tell me I have to send the box out to
Elektron Headquarters in Sweden.

Thanks for any help. By the way I'm located in Manhattan.

Off course you don't have to send it, faulty led's can be repaired
connecting your Mono to your PC with special repair software...... ;-P

I'm afraid you won't find an answer here. I know there is a service
point in the US, but you still have to contact Elektron direct for
details.

I actually disagree. What I would have done is to open the MM and have a
look at the soldering for that LED. If you do not feel confident in
doing this yourself, bring it to some handy with electronics.

Unless the above would break the guarantee and such.

Thanks for the tips.
I'm going to contact the shop which I ordered from to see if they can send me a new unit.
This thing is less than a minute old and I don't feel happy having a defective product I
spent good money on.

Elektron said to give that a try. or to send it to the tech in LA.
they even asked if I would try to work around the problem for now.
It's kinda difficult because I forget that there is a trigger on that key since its not lighted
up.

Thanks again.

That's the best thing to do, since you just got it and it doesn't work
correctly out of the box, you should exchange it for a new one from the
place you bought it from. Easy peasy

Eh,

not so easy.
I bought it from West LA music in Los Angeles.
I live in New York,
They didn't carry it, so they had to order it for me.
I don't know if they would exchange it for another one. I hope they do.
its just the shipping back and forth thats going to be a pain.
I should have just ordered from the elektron site.

Oh well. I'll know to do that when I get the Machinedrum.

well, you could just send it back for a return. then purchase direct
or from Audiomidi.com or novamusik.com. or you could return it to
the LA rep for (warrantee covered) repaired, but that would take longer.

and shipping's cheap. it was $12 for me to ground ship my MD
to LA from Ohio.

good! you *should* have both! :-)

Definately do a return instead of a warranty repair. You should only
have to pay for return freight. They should cover the shipping cost to
send a new unit to you. This is your quickest option.

You shouldn't have to pay for shipping either way, imo.
