UW recording

I just received my new MD-UW and I must say that I'm really impressed with the new possibilities this expansion offers. Not in terms od quantity but in terms of the new tones that you can get out of it. With the new samples you rally can appreciate the quality of the MD sound engine. It really punches. I'm nailing it well but I still couldn't figure out exactly how the RAM recording works. What I've been doing is to enable the first step of the machine with the recording length at the max and this way it works ok. But how does the recording works? Is it constantly recording and only the last passage is recorded? Or is it only the first? And what if I stop recording in the middle of the selected length after some loops? Does it keep the half of the last passage and half of the previous one? Is this making sense? Also I was triggering an external synth using a midi machine and recording the line to the R1 machine. I also had alrady a P1 pattern on it. However everytime I recorded the same line to the R1 machine the result getting out of the P1 would be different. Still about recording, is there a way to control clipping? In any case the results I got out of these experiments were simply crazy. The chance to feed it with some rich analog tones is just great.
