Contra-Revolution

1999-12-13 by splank!

Hello!

I think that Sid-Files played by my PC sound better
than played through the ASID-Player of the Sidstation.

Is that a matter of taste?

Greetings
Splank!

<yeah, and you can mute tracks and re-edit, and toy
with the filter, and its somehow smoother...
ASID player would definitely need some sequencer-like
improvements, otherwise I find it too purely consumer
(hearer) oriented... well...
I was writing for something else, actually.

you must be the splank of splank + mooner...?
I just bought the second kranke musique, all that
stuff is great. I play many of the tunes when djyng in
clubs and bars around here (geneva, switzerland).
I sent mooner a dat around february with kind of
techno pop tracks I do with some toy sounds, but I
don't really know what you guys think of it ? I have
other tracks, also with commodore stuff, and will
probably release something in february. the project is
called 'Plastique de R\ufffdve' (500ex, vinyl, around 6
tracks). For the moment, I haven't made any contacts
for distributing it , I'm gonna try a few that friends
counseled to me -formic, hardwax, etc-, but if you
know someone that it would interest, I could send you
a demo quite soon...

Yes. Technically SID files played on a real SID (like sidstation or
hardsid) are more accurate than emulations, by definition.

Of course the most accurate playback of SID files will be on a true c64.
:)

by definition? .. listen to the bass :) nothing sounds more phat and dodgy :)
The emulation is too clean. Might sound 'better' ..

someone want to record a track from the c64, sidstation and emulator?..
would be fun. I don't have a c64 here..

Actually there is now support for the SidStation in SIDPlay, so we
probably will not continue the ASid development.
