I don't think there's anything to worry about. The machine is most likely in
beta now.
Finishing a synth like the machinedrum takes a lot of work and time. Personally,
I think it's better to postpone a release and then deliver a functional and
stable product, instead of delivering something that's still in beta. (the Akai
S6000 or Mackie D8B come to mind e.g.)

I think Daniel is also finishing his degree right now, so it must be quite
hectic for him right now. Thumbs up!

Bye,
Joeri

Totally agree...i have the waldorf xt...a freind with
a q...waldorf seem to think there customers are all
betatesters.(only you pay for the privelage)..they
.never seem to really address bugs
without loads of hassle and say the reason they
release gear with so many faults ( or bugs which are
are faults arn't they?) is because there as small
company and finacially can't do it any other way...hey
i guess this is right off topic and more than a little
'waldorf 'unfreindly...they make cool sounding
synths...they have the worst customer support and
backup i have ever experienced ....so regards the
delay...respect to Elektron ...unlike manufacturers
who use the buyer as a tester ....i wonder how people
would feel if you sold them cd's with glitches or
music with substandard errors....please replace this i
guess would be the buyers response.....
...half these synth manufacturers would have you
reburn the music cd yourself...if they sold
music...hang on a minute...waldorf have just set up a
record label...not sure about that one at all....guess
what peter namlooks on it......

drifted right off topic...nothing wrong with pete...
liked some of the stuff he puts his name on.

I can't really see how the XT is unfinished?! Masses of features have been
added since it was released that were never part of the original design
spec. There are a couple of very small bugs left(i think mono click bug is
the only one i've ever come across) but IMHO less than you'll find on your
standard Korg/Roland/Yamaha synth. As for walfdorf having the worst customer
support you've ever experienced! I really can't agree with that, I've had
far far far worse from Korg in the past. In the past, Waldorf have even
helped out people who've had hardware problems with their synths outside the
warranty period. Anyway, if they've done something to offend you then fair
enough but I've always felt they were one of the best for customer support.
Oh dear I sound like some sad Waldorf groupie now :-( sorry

PS
are you the matt hillier I sold a Notron to about a year ago? if so, how did
you find it? i missed it a lot until i started programming my own sequencer
in Max. DIY sequencers are the best ;-)

The Microwave XT:
- has no power
- has no soul
- you turn the knobs for hours, and youre still not satisfied with the
sound in some way.

Thats why I sold it. Just compare it to other synths like e.g. a OB-8 or a
Juno or the Sidstation.
You turn it on, you screw for 2 minutes and you think: "wow, thats amazing,
I leave it like this"
But maybe thats a matter of taste, too.

cheers
Splank!

Hi,

      thats me.....totally agree about waldorf.....
the basic gripe was that a chip fried due to the older
operating system in the xt....i mailed waldorf 6 times
very politely before i got a reply and then it
was...we can't help...take it to a service
centre..literally that , i then mail for some
recommended service centres and was told , speak to
turnkey...literally like that...i couldn't afford the
3 hour waiting time phone bill on there answer
system...so took it to a localish repair centre , who
waited 3 weeks to get schematics from waldorf via an
e-mail...then to finish it off waldorfs main parts
supplier took 3 months to get a chip for the xt ,
and said the reason for this was because it was being
shipped by sea (genuine).....i will say they make
excellent sounding gear and the latest operating
system is 99% ...bad hair day :)..still a little
naughtly on the q betatesters club thing..pay 1500.00
and tell us whats wrong....but...sounds very
nice!don;t have one.....its all karma i guess not to
sound to clique......

yeah the notron is very nice.....thought the way it
appeared after i placed a wanted ad was nothing short
of a miracle!...i definately owe you one for
that...didn't realise how obscure they can be or just
what they can do but your right ,Diy is
limitless...find it great for going off on one...but
love stuff like softstep/algorithmic chaos sequencers
etc...max...if only they would port it to pc!so many
promises..also pluggo....max is very cool....the
notron i nearly sold after a moment of using loads of
software based sequencing but just as it was about to
go i crank it up and it did some stuff that convinced
me not to sell just yet....

ps i guess this has gone about as off topic as we are
ever likely to see.....pete namlook...checkout the new
biosphere/namlook collaboration.....very cool....

sidtstation....are yes....chopped up 125 or so samples
of differing backround noise from the sidstation,
mapped it as a multi sample on an akai so each keys
has a different snippet or wave of sid noise...made
the filters velo sensitive...what a pleasure its
been....sidstations noise is a blessing in disquise if
you love that sort of thing......

hope the new drum machine is as quirky....

yeah the notron is very nice.....thought the way it
