Preliminary QuadraSid plugin review

Preliminary QuadraSid plugin review

2001-05-21 by Joeri Vankeirsbilck

Hi,

I just received the plugin and it's very nice! There are LOTS of
possibitilies in there. Very powerful modulation matrix etc. Haven't had
the time yet to check out its filters though.
It sounds more hifi and cleaner than the SidStation, but emulates some
of its bugs very well (and the "sid bugs" can be switched off!!)

If you're a real SID lover, you'll notice the difference. Imo it sounds
a bit different than the SidStation and I see it more as an alternative.
I'll definitely use this plugin in many productions too, but it will not
replace the SidStation at all. Programming the tables etc looks much
more easy with this plugin due to its grafical interface. Also, you get
4 SID voices instead of 1. You can use these voices in multi or poly or
unisono mode: very nice!

The presets are nice! It gives you a good idea of what the plugin can do
and how it sounds like. I've heard some presets which I'll use
rightaway.

All in all: very nice plugin. Well made and sounds nice. It doesn't
sound like the real thing to me, but then an Access Virus doesn't sound
like analogue to me either.

Today is the last day you can get it at the introductionary price of
35Euro (the price doubles tomorrow). I'd say it's definitely worth the
money!

Bye,
Joeri

Hey Joeri!

Can you output the files as ".sid" files from that program?

cheers

Hi Splank,

I just checked: it is not possible. As a matter of fact, I think saving and
loading patches in Logic is only possible using Logic's "save" feature.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
