machinedrum kit building, auditioning sounds.

2006-04-20 by Matt Costain

Hi,

Recently acquired a MD and am loving it, but have one gripe..

Is there any way to audition a particular sound while building kits?

ie, if I want to place a sound into position 3 of kit, as I'm scrolling
through the various instruments in a machine, can I do anything to hear
the default sound before I assign to the position? You can play it from
its assigned 16-step button after assigning it to a slot, but that's
annoying. Or do you just have to become one with all the default sounds
:-)

thanks,
m.

I want this as well, I was thinking the exact same thing last night.
Especially when you're dealling with samples and they are numbered,
not named.

I end up just adding a couple notes to the pattern to act as an
audition, but I do wish there was another way as well.

afaik, you have to commit a machine to a track to hear it,
whether you're using md machine lab {for oh-sex} or doing it
all manually. i usually just sequence four quarter notes
and let the sequencer play while i'm editing.
