MD inputs

MD inputs

2001-06-12 by scutopus@yahoo.com

hello all,
the MD looks fantastic. one question, tho'--what are the possible
things one can do with an input signal? for example (with the drums
turned off) can i input a signal, and have it affected by the step/
realtime-controlled effects section?
thanks!

The information that I've got says that the audio in can used to trig
an envelope, or the internal sequencer can be used to gate the
incoming sound.

Incoming sound will then go through the local and global effects.

/Janne, have already ordered a MD :)

Do as I do, sell your time and creativity for money... working with
computers. :/

I am hoping this little machine will put my faith back in digital
equipment, and that they can be fun too.

I started out making music with midi, but lately I've fallen into the
analogue only trap. The analogue equipment makes me want to
experiment, muck around with stuff, try out new patches and so on.

My midi stuff seems so dull and lifeless in comparision. I ought to
get a better sequencer than Cubase 2.0 on my Atari. That could perhaps
help a little? Get one of the boxes with lots of knobs to twiddle
while recording?

/Janne, cv/gate/trig/sync-24 is the lifeblood in my music

korg trident mk2 ,space echo 201 & kenton pro4 :) ,
i need a dicent mixing unit/soundunit : PRO-TOOLS TDM
but i'm hooked to the f***n software (digi 001), now i need the big brother.

Mixing in TDM sucks imo: you don't have knobs (EQ'ing with a mouse sucks imo)
(ProControl costs too much imo) and it doesn't sound nice. There are some bad
parts in the mixing engine of Protools. It's even discussed on the forum on
their website!
You might prefer a good mixing desk.

Yeps, probably the computer with best midi timing of all.

A G4 should work! What software are you using?

i gues you dont like PT TDM then . . but.. you have one ...mmmm

for me ! PT is much better then working on ANALOG mixing desk with
tons of outboard gear (which i dont have anyway)
its the killor to do audio manipulations , , ,
audio suite plugs ON THE FLY
belive me or not i even write my MIDI on the damn software
but its ok now pt 5,1

yeah
real good mixing consule would sound better but cost me loads of $$ &
without verbs , processors , dynamic units . . .so its matter of budjet i
gues. . . .

about midi timing my G4's midi timing is byfar from being
a real good machine (usb connctions ah :) so maybe a Mlan
connction would be the future >> think of SIDstation with an Mlan connction
: ) killor

Correct. I like some things of it (the timestretching tool is sooooo handy:
love it!), but in general, I don't like it indeed.

> . . but.. you have one ...mmmm

I don't. I have to work on it quite often in the studios where I come.

That's indeed true... :-(

I also hate USB. Causes nothing but problems!

The SID chip's timing isn't worth such a good connection. The chip's delay
isn't constant.
