New MD tune

New MD tune

2006-08-27 by Tarekith

Funky downtempoish stuff, used the Machinedrum-UW for all the drum
parts. Only used a tad of EQ to cut out some sub-30Hz stuff during
mixdown, otherwise they are straight out of the MD as a stereo track.
I like how easy it is to get a dynamic, yet powerful sound out of the
MD, good stuff when it comes time to mix the tune :)

Here's the high quality version:

Here's the low quality preview:

Enjoy!

SID for sale

2006-08-28 by Behn Humphrey

Hey all.

Sadly... I'm going to be selling my SidStation. It's in wonderfull
condition and has been lightly used over the last 3 or 4 years... and that's
the problem. I love the thing, but I don't ever use it very much.

I will be ebaying it in about a week, wanted to offer it to Elektron heads.
I was hoping to get around $600-$700 (they are going for about a $1000 right
now on the Elektron site).

If anybody is interested please contact me off-list at
be4n_anikean@...

I live in Berkeley CA so that's where it would be shipped out of.

Thanks much,

Well since no one else said anything - !!
I think this track is quite nice man. It sounds really great sonically, and
musically its got that chilled out factor to it which makes for laid back
listening.

Having had an MD for 4 years now, I am still impressed at the quality of
sound they have. It impresses me every time I turn it on.

Soon hopefully I will have a UW so I can finally try some of this stuff you
guys are doing.

Cheers,
-Chris

Thanks. For what it's worth, I don't think I even used any of the UW
features in this tune. It's all just straight MD synthesis, a real
mix of different kit sounds. I used a touch of the dynamix, but I'ms
till trying to get to grips withe xactly how it affects the sound.
Don't get me wrong, I definitely know how compression works, just
taking me awhile to get a feel for the sweet spots in the effect.

Anyway, satisfied after 5 years of lusting after one, all I can say is
the MD is definitely worth the hype (and money). This is one of the
few bits of hardware I think I'll always own.

Wow that's even more impressive then. I was almost certain some of those
sounds were samples.
Hot shit dude. Is there a chance you would post the kit you used? I am keen
on seeing what you did.

Also, yeah.. the md compressor amazes me. It can be really really extreme,
but also very musical too. And it's got such a range of settings that most
compressors don't in terms of low to high.
I discover new things every time I turn it on :)

Heh way for me to misread things.. You said MD for the drum parts.. ok
Thats what made me think the strings and pads were UW.
Then I thought you had done them on the MD.. which made me scratch my head.

Anyways, still a nice track, and the drum parts are solid ;)

LOL, I wish I could string and pad sounds like that out of the MD, not
to mention guitar tones :) Here's the kit if anyone wants to have a
look:

I forgot that the cymbals WERE from the my UW samples, but they are in
the zip file as well if you want them.
