SIDstation power suppy -- update

SIDstation power suppy -- update

2001-07-11 by Roger Scott

I got my Elektron-approved PSU in the mail today and it makes all the
difference in the world. I thought it would mainly reduce the 60Hz hum
level, but it also (for whatever reason) drastically reduces the other noises.
There's really not much need for a noise gate at this point.

If you have a Radio Shack PSU, or anything other than the Elektron-supplied
PSU, and you think the noise level is something you just have to live with,
I *strongly* encourage you to order a PSU from Elektron. They're outrageously
expensive (US$45, incl. shipping), but they really do work.

Elektron, have you used these Radio Shack PSUs yourselves? Do you know
how awful they are and how terrible they make the SIDstation sound? It'd be
a nice gesture to make the good PSUs available to those who bought SIDstations
before you started including the good PSUs at a reduced price so as to enable
everyone to get the best possible SID-sounds.

Hey, I just bought my Sid throuhg Ebay, and I don't know what I have
as far as a power supply... how can you tell it's the "officially
sanctioned" one? Mine says "Type FW7230/06"
