MIDI thru on MonoMachine

MIDI thru on MonoMachine

2006-10-26 by tony@mtx-media.com

So, I just placed my order for an SF-60, but have currently and SF-6 on
loan.

For the way my setup works, It would be ideal to have my master keyboards
midi merged to the output of the MnM, as it will be also used to sequence
other gear. I have already checked, and on the MIDI tracks (channels
10~16) it merges input to output without any problems.

On other channels, particularly channels 1~6 which the internal machines
use, it does not appear to be mirroring the input to the output, or in fact
sending any midi at all on those channels. Is it possible to these tracks
to merge through just like the MIDI tracks do? I am looking at getting a
MOTU MTP/AV to act as a MIDI router, so this is definitely not the end of
the world - just it would be overwhelmingly convenient if I didn't have to
give up the first 6 MIDI channels to the MnM.

Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

Tony

tony i know you can set it up so the internal 6 tracks sequence
external gear, I have never done what you are asking but i think you
can do it.

the manual mentions this on page 71. they say you can enable the MIDI
out on the internal tracks in control out1

After much futzing, I can find no way to get the non-midi tracks to play
through, unless you use a merge box to merge the out and the thru from the
machine drum...which of course causes other issues.

I would really like to know the reasoning behind the different behavior
between the sections. I mean..it really makes it difficult to layer the MnM
with another synth down the midi stream. And its obviously *capable* as
the other tracks already function in this way.

I have no problems doing this, if I'm sequencing a Virus Ti in Multi part mode, I have to
switch off parts one to 6 to avoid both machines playing.

Global->Control->Midi Chanls

Base Channel 01
Channel Span 06

That should get it working, good luck.

DJ Cue on Machinedrum ?

2006-10-31 by onosendai@free.fr

The way we can correct pitch at any time (with arrow) is one of my favorite
Machinedrum fonctionnality. With that i can sync my MD on the fly and play on
every audio sources i want... BUT, if i want to improvise, i can't cueing new
machine before playing it for real, so i haven't the right to make a mistake, i
have to found the good sound at the first time... not so easy.

Do you think we could have cueing on Machinedrum ? I think it's possible : why
not plug a headphone on a mono out but the master out ? And when we are on the
machine list menu before importing a new machine, to be able to root the new
last update pre-listening function on this mono out. Like that we can really
mix and improvise without make a big audio mistake just in front of the audience
^^!

What do you think about that ?
