MM: different lengths per track possible?

MM: different lengths per track possible?

2007-08-23 by feroxnl

Hi!

I tend to leave my pc out more and more because it tends to be too
distracting. I really like the MM for its sequencing possibilities,
although not being able to sequence the midi tracks in polyphony
makes me having to switch on the pc now and then. I understand that
that would be too far off the MM philosophy and structure, so I can
live with that.

What I do find to be a real pity, is the fact that you can't set a
different number of steps per track. Ie, one is forced to stay in a
4/4 situation, making things rather static (despite the fantastic
LFO and paramater lock stuff). It would be lovely if it would be
possible to create 'syncopic'looping madness.

I've been thinking about a way around, but all I could come up were
arpeggio's. Still, then you'd have the problem of a fixed triggering
moment (ie the first step of the track).

Anyone else dealed with this matter succesfully? I'd love to hear
about it!

Bye,
Jasper

Either I was too drunk'n'high last night, or something, but I swear I was
doing polyphonic stuff with MIDI tracks in my MM sequencing my Virus...

But yeah, your idea is something I've though about as well, but I'm not
sure it would work well in song mode, if you know what I mean. Unless
Elektron whips out a clever way of compensating for gaps due to tracks
with different steps.
