left right label reversed oops!

left right label reversed oops!

2001-07-22 by mischa

any one notice that the left right a b label on the back of the MD is
reversed? its correct on top (left a, right b) , but on the back it its
wrong right a, left b).

i hooked up my MD, and didnt look @ the top,or the manual, and i couldnt
figure out why the panning was reversed, checked my mixer, patch bay, back
of the MD, everything. i figured it was a software bug in the MD, and then i
looked at the actual top label. oops.

i guess when the MD goes into production this will be a way to tell the 100
first units apart from the final version...

MD idea

I have a wish for the next OS:

- please no display-change when you go into "mute"-mode.
you see whats muted and whats not on the LEDs below anyway,
so I think it would be better to free the screen from the
additional displaying of the muted buttons - And you would have
a free view on the parameters to squeeze.
This would be 100% better for playing live.

- maybe I couldnt find it yet: But i think a "shortcut-button"
for the single tracks would be nice. E.g. you press the xy knob and
the "BD" Track -> with the same effect as if you turn the "sound
selection"-wheel,
but faster when you are one with the machine.

cheers

The Machinedrum is already a classic. You know why?
Because its so much fun playing with it, and you come to results
that satisfy you very fast.
The sounds are strange, and it has "unlimited" possibilities.
But that doesnt disturb. Sometimes I feel disturbed by that with other
e.g. Virtual Analogue synths. You are searching for a tone,
you play around for hours and still you think: "maybe It can be better".
With the MD I feel "this is cool, maybe leave it like that" - after 5
minutes.
But I know, I have discovered only 15% of its features/possibilitys yet.
Same effect you have with analogue synths.

even better for playing live, I think would be even easier for live
mode to ---***wow Im stoned***--- sorry

I meant to start to say....
not even having to go into a separate "mode" to mute/unmute tracks
would be even better for playing live. Make it a simple key press
away at any time for any track.. would be great for building up
tracks from scratch live.. I guess though, if you can go into the
mute mode without the pop up screen display blocking the knobs then
that would work just as fine!

These are two great ideas, both geared for live playing... The area
where the MachineDrum is the undisputed drummachine king imho. so
many sonic options! Get your DJ friend to play some music through
the MD!!!!! super cool shit.

but yeah, I think that a sequencer-as-a-track would be a cool idea
too, I dont know DSP or code or whatever it takes to change this
stuff up, but it seems to me that it would be easy to adapt the
machiedrum's hardware and screen/menu system to become a sequencer..
The thing IS a sequencer for cryin' out loud. SO having a midi
sequencer track, even if just one, (two, three!? : ) seems to be a
very obvious lacking feature.. the elektron toys would be great for
eachother. Maybe even make a specific knob set-up for the Sid. But
leave a blank one too, so you could save customixed MIDI knob maps
for your different MID synths/programs whatever... then send the Sid
through the MD!! oh my!

I like how the Copy Paste delete functions are laid out.. super cool
easy.
I like how mostly everything can be done while the sequencer is
running..
I like the size/ergonomics of the MD...

just a few things that i managed to remember here tonight!

it rules!
