Gate signal from MD

Gate signal from MD

2009-01-17 by peteruertz

hallo everybody, i am new here and i do not know,
if this is already mentioned!?

Somewhere in the net i read, that it is possible to extract a
gate signal to control analog gear.

Does somebody know how to do that !?

Thx and best, peter

Hi Peter,

You use a GND->Impulse/IMP machine to send out gate signals to one of the outputs. Assign the output to something other than your master mix, and you're away

Cheers!

I once recorded the sound of the sync click from an 808 for some bloke to he could play it back as audio at the right volume into his vintage gear and it would sync up ( I think).

I suppose you could try something similar using the GND-IM (which has a very similar sound to the 808 click) machine through a separate output into your vintage gear.

Not sure if this would work but it could be worth a go?

i usually do that with the impulse-machine or anything else that
produces very short sounds - but it works better with an Doepfer A-119 to
increase the signal level or generate a real gate impulse

That works but if your synth uses s trig you need to build a special cable. Also note the md wont send real cv for pitch control, either you need a midi cv box or more interesting check out silent way software.

Good luck.
