I remember someone spoke about doing a editor, but nothing happened yet.
That's true, it will be really fun to have a pc based editor. But maybe one day ... who know.

 Hello!

I'm very happy with my new SIDStation. I love to program those waveform tables! But I was wondering if it is possible to edit these on a PC or MAC based editor?

 Best regards,

You could also use quadra sid...then once you get something you like,
enter it into the sidsta.

You could start with goat tracker..the pc sidtune editor...it comes with
the source, based on reSID. Maybe just add mouse support, and export
to a sidstation sysex file, or MIDI output. if anyone is really bored
and wants to work on the project, I'd help.

Well even easier I think is to check with the guyz who did Hardsid ( www.hardsid.com ) they already have an midi driver/editor for their card.

MD_kit_assign_failure

2001-10-25 by splank!

This is an annoying bug:

From time to time all KITs assigned to certain Sequences
get mixed up. All Sequences are assigned to other KITS.
Most of the time theyre assigned to "new kit".
I have to re-load the programs and then it works again.
When I load the program position is the last one (64 I think).
Normally the cursor is on the position of the KIT
you saved last to this Sequence.

Its pretty annoying, especially on stage when you want
to play a sequence and everythings played with other sounds.

The "hard to find" thing is:
there is no logic, no certain thing I did, no certain
point of time to it. It just happens.
Hmmm, Maybe it has got something to do with Midi.

i droped that question in the hardsid emailgroup. no good answre received.i
think you have to ask the creator of hardsid in person?
( im still dreaming of three seperate midi-channel-oscilators)
by the way..someone checked out quadrasid?

I used the Mac verz. at my friend's house. he probly 'ra++ed it, but I
think it's only 20 bux, so rat it and give 10 to elektron for inventing the
UI QS ganked. Quartz Glyph.

so how bout a pc editor for the machinedrum?

2001-10-30 by Cryogenick

I was trying to build an adaption for it with sound diver, but my lack of
sysex knowledge prevented me from accomplishing more than controlling the 9
controll knobs (level, controller 1-8)

Re: [elektron] so how bout a pc editor for the machinedrum?

2001-10-30 by shifty@gweep.net

what exactly do people wish they could do with a PC that theycan't do
from the front panel? nota threat, just trying to see where you're
coming from!

stupid idea #4008: bulid a PIC adpater that converts mouse signals and
clicks into an emulation of the sidstation keyboard!!! :)

Same over here. I don't know anything about programming and I tried, and
even though basic patch management worked in "some" way, it was useless.
I'm just no good at programming, so I gave up.

1) patch management
2) editing all parameters with a nice GUI. See what a Sounddiver
adaptation can do to a synth like the Waldorf Pulse: it's much more fun
to program.

My award for worst user interface on a synth goes to... *drumrull*
Yamaha! For their outstanding contribution to wunderful machine,
worthless uer interface via the FS1r!

They've even beaten their old record with the DX7...

And the manual too sucks for the FS1r. One of the worst manuals I've
read.

All hail Elektron and their great products! May they live forever and
continue to give us excellent products and manuals! :)

Very often yes, but very often it also makes it possible to do things
that hardware just can't do.
Imagine you could sort your SID patches any way you liked: put all
basses together etc. Wouldn't that be a great feature? That's something
software can do.

The sounddiver adaptation looks cool!

Definitely!!! I'm still amazed at how fast one can jump from one osc
section to the other in the SidStation! I think that's one of the best
features!

i can see Joeri's point about organization of patches but to me that is about as much fun as Microsoft Word or Excel.

I have much more fun programming in the dark, on that Blood Red screen surrounded by a blur of flashing red lights. Wikid!

I'm agree with both of you.

I'm a JAVA programmer and I refuse to work with computers when I'm making music, but I want to get other patches so you can learn from them. That's why I own a Micro Modular and a Doepfer A-100. I download patches for the Micro Modular and implement them on the Doepfer and experment with them. I want to learn. And unfortunately, you still need a f#cking PC for it. Or does somebody has some other media to pass SID information?

BTW Switching to another OSC is really a good feature. And don't forget the LFOs.....
