The sidstation is still fucking weak.

The sidstation is still fucking weak.

I'm happy you love the sidstation. I'm going to sell mine if Elektron
doesn't update the OS to support faster register updates.

The faster you update the chip the better your am/fm and ringmod
attributes will sound because you are changing them at a finer
resolution. Would you be happy with 1x? Ever heard a sid doing
sync'd square osc's at 63x? It sounds fucking brilliant.

All I'm saying here is. The guys at elektron let the community
down. Sure, a bunch of producers are happily going retro and making
little bleeps and "crunchy/edgy" leads. I don't give a fuck. This
thing sounds like a 6581 at 4x -- crappy.

I expect more out of my gear.

Elektron if you are listening -- Your current users need an OS
update - even if I'm not one of them anymore.

Thanks for the flame Corey. Can I call you foamy underpants?
I'm sure your penis spurts all over your undies every time you say
the word "cock".

Quit your whining...it really makes you look stupid to be mad at a company
for not adding features they never said they would.
Did you buy one just so you could complain about it or what?

Yes, I'm that stupid... I bought it to complain about it ;)

I'm done ranting. If it makes you feel any better my "whining" was a
call for OS improvement. I guess you're completely happy with the
world as it is so this doesn't matter to you.

In answer to the post previous to this. Yeah, there definately could
be a hardware bottleneck in the SS. The engineers designing the SS
had to make some critical choices when choosing clock rate & cpu. If
they can't change the clock via software update then I think they
made the wrong choice ;) I don't know anything at this moment about
the sidstation hardware other than some common sidchip mods that make
it sound better.

Now, lets see. What will this sidstation fetch on ebay.

I'll crawl back into my hi-fi world and leave this list alone ;)

You may like it. I like my sidstation's sound as is
(although i wouldn't mind more flexibility, it's not
something I'd openly badmouth the company over)

No, they've let no one down. *YOU* didn't learn about
the synth you spent money on. *YOU* didn't check to
make sure it had all the features you want. *YOU* let
yourself down. Elektron has let NO ONE down, because
they are open and honest about their products. My
entire setup is Elektron gear and a Behringer mixer.
And I'll continue to buy their products because
they've always been very active in their product
communities, even releasing 100 MachineDrums at a
discounted price to people who purchased sidstations,
just to get their feedback and ideas. Most companies
just release the buggy version first, wait to hear the
complaints, and then release a new version altogether,
and rake in the cash. Elektron actually cares about
their users, and I take great offense to anyone saying
they've let the community down.

In your opinion. "Crappy" is very subjective, and
it's a little immature to scream about a company
making a synth who's sound you don't like, after
you've already purchased it. Especially with so many
sound samples available online, the manual, reviews,
etc. You made an uninformed purchase, and for some
odd reason you think it's Elektron's fault.

We don't need an update. If Elektron feels like
blessing us with one, that's great. More power to
them. But the current OS works fine for the people
who weren't stupid and dropped the money on it before
learning about it.

It does, actually. Well, when I'm wearing undies,
that is. ;)
